“Fools make fun of guilt, but the godly acknowledge it and seek reconciliation”
If you do something bad, guilt is a sick feeling in your tummy that makes you feel terrible. It can also feel like a shadow following you or like a heavy weight you're holding. If you feel this way, don't make fun of it! Don't laugh and say “Ahh—it's no big deal!” Or, if you get in trouble in school and have to sit at the “No Fun” table—don't laugh—take it seriously!
Then, if you know that you've hurt someone's feelings, tell them you're sorry. That's what reconciliation is—asking for forgiveness and trying the best you can to repair your relationship. Or, realize you've done wrong at school and try to behave better the next time. If you ever feel guilty, don't let it stay in your heart—take care of it. You'll feel much better and you'll be wiser, too.
Dear Lord, Please help me to not make fun of guilt, but to keep my relationships mended. Please help me today to take care of any guilt I feel. In Jesus' name, Amen.
